{"id":10546,"date":"2021-02-13T13:45:25","date_gmt":"2021-02-13T13:45:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greekart-souvenirs.gr\/product\/ancient-compass\/"},"modified":"2022-02-05T15:55:48","modified_gmt":"2022-02-05T13:55:48","slug":"handmade-pyxis","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/greekart-souvenirs.gr\/en\/product\/handmade-pyxis\/","title":{"rendered":"Handmade Pyxis"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4 class=\"western\" lang=\"el-GR\"><em><strong>HANDMADE CERAMIC PYXIS .<\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"el-GR\"><em><strong>This handmade Pyxis is decorated with angiographs of gods &amp; heroes,of the <a href=\"https:\/\/greekart-souvenirs.gr\/en\/product\/helmet-ancient-greek\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ancient greek mythology<\/a>.<span lang=\"en-US\">S<\/span>omething that did also in <span lang=\"en-US\">A<\/span>ncient <span lang=\"en-US\">G<\/span>reece, because they wanted to include in every day&#8217;s life, and to honor with this, the <span lang=\"en-US\">g<\/span>ods who worshiped and asked for their help in every need.\u00a0Pyxides were lidded boxes used for storing small items such as jewellery.\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"el-GR\"><em><strong><span lang=\"en-US\">H<\/span>andpainted in dark green color, that in ancient greece symbolizes the hope for life, rebirth and resurrection .<span lang=\"en-US\">I<\/span>t is considered the color of harmony, social contribution, altruism. it is the color of nature and balance.<span lang=\"en-US\">T<\/span>hey are made with the same pottery techniques, that used in ancient <span lang=\"en-US\">G<\/span>reece.<span lang=\"en-US\">B<\/span>ut through ancient greek ceramic art, we will go through the stage of the simple daily vessels, to some vessels which had special purpose.<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<em><strong><span lang=\"en-US\">T<\/span>hese were manufactured elaborately with great angiographies, making them so important pieces of worlds history.<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<em><strong><span lang=\"en-US\">A <\/span>trip that will start from 1100bc, the <span lang=\"en-US\">P<\/span>rogeometrical period, and reach to the prevalence of black-figured and reddish rate, up to 330 bc.<span lang=\"en-US\">A<\/span>nd will grant us unique masterpieces,such as amphoras, lykithoi, ydreies, jugs , prochoys, cylics, beetle, wine amphoras, craters.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"western\" lang=\"el-GR\"><em><strong><span lang=\"en-US\">THE MATTERIALS<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n<p><em><strong>The clay (keramos) to produce pottery (kerameikos) was readily available throughout Greece, although the finest was Attic clay, with its high iron content giving an orange-red colour with a slight sheen when fired and the pale buff of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ancient.eu\/corinth\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Corinth<\/a>.
