Handmade ceramic vase.

Handmade Ceramic artifact. Decorated with angiographs of gods & heroes,of the ancient greek mythology. Something that did also in Ancient Greece, because they wanted to include in every day’s life, and to honor with this, the gods who worshiped and asked for their help in every need.  Handpainted in dark green color, that in ancient greece symbolizes the hope for life, rebirth and resurrection .  It is considered the color of harmony, social contribution, altruism. it is the color of nature and balance.

The technique

They are made with the same pottery techniques, that used in ancient Greece.  But through ancient greek ceramic art, we will go through the stage of the simple daily vessels, to some vessels which had special purpose.  These were manufactured elaborately with great angiographies, making them so important pieces of worlds history.  A trip that will start from 1100bc, the Progeometrical period, and reach to the prevalence of black-figured and reddish rate, up to 330 bc.  And will grant us unique masterpieces,such as amphoras, lykithoi, ydreies, jugs , prochoys, cylics, beetle, wine amphoras, craters. This handmade ceramic artifact is the perfect gift for every house. A small piece of the vast history and mythology of our country Greece. 

The matterials

The clay (keramos) to produce ceramic pot (kerameikos) was readily available throughout Greece.  Although the finest was Attic clay, with its high iron content giving an orange-red colour with a slight sheen when fired and the pale buff of Corinth. Clay was generally prepared and refined in settling tanks.  So that different consistencies of material could be achieved depending on the vessel types to be made with it.

From the ancient Greek ceramics, we draw a lot of information about the life of the ancient greeks.  Their religion and their relationship with everyone.  The vessels had many uses, and that is why many variations and shapes have been found. They used them for storage, for weddings, and funerals and ceremonies,for perfumes.
