GOD ZEUS
First among the gods was the imposing and arrogant Zeus. From his palace on Olympus, he ruled the world and imposed his will on gods and men. He was in control of the weather, and was responsible for all weather changes, rain, hail, snow. And the lightning that was his symbol. His symbol was also the eagle, the only bird that flies so high that when it wants to grab its prey, it lands on the ground like lightning.
He completely ruled heaven and earth. Zeus-Dias was the son of Saturn and Rhea. He was saved thanks to his mother by his father’s habit of swallowing his offsprings. When Zeus was about to be born, Rhea asked Gaia to devise a plan to save him, so that Saturn would be punished for his actions against his father Uranus and his children. Rhea gave birth to Zeus in Crete, delivering to Saturn a stone wrapped in swaddling clothes, which she swallowed.
THE BATTLE FOR EARTH
And he dethroned him, after a fierce conflict involving gods and mythical monsters. This relentless war lasted ten years, until Zeus received Gaia’s advice to go down to Tartarus and free the Titan brothers. The Cyclops and the Hundred Hands Monsters. In Tartarus he fought with the mythical monster Kampis and after defeating it, he liberated the Cyclops and the Hecatochires, who have since become his allies. The Cyclops out of gratitude gave Hades and Poseidon weapons of war. And they supplied Zeus with lightning, thunder. Jupiter divided by lot with Poseidon and Pluto, the territories of the sea and the Underworld respectively.
The gods resorted to him when they had some difference between them. And the people begged him to take care of their rights. And DIAS, with its infallible judgment, always resolved the disputes without dissatisfying any side. But also the foreigners, the poor and the fugitives were under its protection, for this reason it was also called Zeus Xenios, Ikesios.
